OT - Line Cut
« on: February 14, 2003, 10:25:00 PM »
I received this from my sister who said I should just say that the author/owner is unknown...and no, it's not my sister.

My sister-in law is from Oklahoma and has a slight accent. She has cats and when she lived in the south she would take them to the groomers and have what is called a Line Cut. To her a line cut is when all of the fur hanging down below the cat's tummy is taken off (because it gets matted or snarled). When she moved to Chicago with my brother, one of the cats fur got all tangled up during the move so she took it in for a line cut. She was quite surprised when she heard the price as it was twice as much as it was down south. She confirmed with the groomer that he understood what a line cut was and he said "yes, I know what a LION cut is." It seems her accent came out sounding like LION not LINE and this is how her cat was returned to her. (see PHOTOS) She cried for a week...but not as much as the cat. It was November in Chicago and the cat needed all the fur it had.

Gas in car to go to  groomers      $4.50
Cat car  carrier                   $32.99
Grooming  fee                      $80.00

Getting the look from one seriously pissed off cat ....
Priceless!

Somebody should copywrite these pix. They're destined to be one of those 'internet' moments.

OH MY!!!!!! What a PO'd Cat.... poor thing. I'm still laughing and my tears are running down my cheeks. We have A LOT of snow, although the temp is not that bad. But not warm enough for a Lion cut cat to go outside.

I've written back to my sister and asked her to notify the author/owner of this posting. If she is willing to acknowledge her identity, I will edit the photos to add a copyright notice for her.

Think you might have trouble identifying the owner .. this one's already doing the rounds in Australia, emailed by a friend of mine in Melbourne 2 days ago!
Sure is one pissed off looking cat, but with the temperatures we've been having lately it'd be a lot more comfortable here in Perth, in fact some owners of Persians here regularly have them clipped like this in the summer.

We actually had a cat clipped in this way many years ago because he was suffering from the heat and was quite overweight.  The vet suggested it.  The process was done by an experienced groomer, and the cat had to be lightly anesthesized(sp).  The groomer left his head fur on and a tuft at the tip of his tail, and had a red bandanna on him when we picked him up.  We called him the Lion Cub.  I am searching! for the pictures, as I really want to put one here.

I wouldn't like to see that photo copyrighted.
I can think of a good place to stick it, right above the catfood bowl, for the next time:
- curtains get climbed;
- a paint pot gets knocked over;
- claws come out suddenly when the bed has been intruded into...
...and many other eventualities.

The words "Let this be a

dire warning" will probably prove quite unnecessary.
