I want to copy off TiVo to my wireless network.

This may get to be too long and involved.... but

background - -   We HAD a TV w/a built in VCR...  VCR has apparently gone south.  We HAVE a dual turner, 80 hr TiVo with a number of shows the 'we' want to be able to save to VCR or DVD.
This particular grouping is on the back end of an 'peninsula' in our kitchen/dining room, and 'we' would rather not add another piece of equipment to the grouping, i.e. a stand-alone DVD/VCR recorder.

equipment & connections - -  Charter cable from outlet to cable box - Red, White, Yellow connection from cable box to TiVo - - Coax from TiVo box to TV - - TiVo has 2 USB connectors, one of which is currently being used by a wireless connector to allow the TiVo to 'phone home' via our in-house wireless network to update itself.


Wanted  - - To be able 'some how' to get built up reserve of programs off TiVo and onto DVD or other recording material, via my G5 iMac (10.4.11, iLife 08)  and some method of doing this on an on-going basis.
Does NOT have to be done at the actual time of viewing / recording on TiVo.

Hi,
I have a macbookpro, tivo and a wireless network.  Using Toast 9 I have no problem saving tv show or non protected movies such as Caberet, Nashville on my hard drive.  I assume I could easily burn them to a cd or dvd .ilw-00

Hi,
On Toast 9 is a program tivo transfer.  It shows you via your wireless network what is on tivo and you can click on what you want to transfer to your hard drive. From you mac I assume you can burn a  disc.   It is very simple and straight forward.  I had no difficulty setting it up. I had heard of problems with a previous version of Toast.  I was told by the company that if it didn't work, I could return it within thirty days and get my money back. ilw-00

Am up and running.... transfering shows from my, now visible, TiVo to my iMac...  

Needed TiVo wireless adapter.. from Best Buy or TiVo, or where ever.
Needed to 'allow' Bonjour in Safari bookmarks(??) to make the TiVo DVR visible to the iMac.
Needed to get Toast - 9, as that is, currently, the only software available to 'transfer' TiVo recorded shows off that machine onto the iMac and then 'burn them to DVDs.  (THANKS Harv, saved $12)
Am now able to schedule transfers for 'off usage' times (3 a.m. or so) and do 'spanning' of DVDs if necessary when recording multiple shows. (Ain't going to do that at 3 a.m. )  Can also transfer them to my iPod.

"WE" ARE SO HAPPY!! to now be able to save those important moments for posterity (??).  (or until the powers that be come up with some new whiz-bang storage media/format/whatever.

These will NOT be DVDs to be 'shared' as there is a 'media key' involved in the down loading / burning process that is 'unique' to each individual's TiVo contract. So as long as you view them on a device connected to your wireless network and have TiVo Desktop installed so it can validate the media code, you are good to go... But we gotstum anyway...

I've never used them myself, but have heard nothing but good about them.

I use TDK and have had no problems.
