External drive leaving the Desktop..?

After one external drive won't boot...now the second, after a few hours  leave the desktop,....and ask if i want to initialize  verysad.gif

 can be seen in drive set up but the partions names are replaced by generic ones...

What do do...?

Maybe somebody had cast a spell....  Thinking.gif

Time Machine external drive - ditto above - 1/2 TimeMac

On Tiger 10.4.11...

This morning this drive is on the desktop....maybe there's something whith the cooling, Thinking.gif (no ventilator in the enclosure) it was  hot yersteday when i get the message...

That's possible. Heat can make hardware act up.

Good theory, as it happens "after a few hours." Is there a way to leave the "cover" off and see if that helps? Then you'd still need a permanent solution of course. I made my own "vent" in the back of a rolltop desk, but on the computer enclosure itself, I don't know. eek2.gif
Ya gotta applaud those bunnies for sacrificing their hearing just so some guy in Cupertino can have better TV reception.
