The late, great Alistair Cooke, at the end of a documentary on his life, was seen in a clip telling the story of a 99-year-old celebrating 78 years of marriage. "To what do you attribute continuing happiness in such a long marriage?" he was asked.
"Increasingly lengthy separations and deteriorating hearing."
