iPod Nano questions
« on: August 03, 2008, 02:40:53 PM »
I have one of those 2nd Generation iPod Nano's (see pic). I even have ear buds from iLuv in the spiffy green. biggrin.gif But I have questions ...

1. With the iPod there was this funny little white plastic thing that I think is an iPod dock or adaptor; but in the paperwork that came with the iPod there isn't a description or explanation for what this is, or how to use it. What dock are we taking about here? I've yet to have time to research this, so if you understand what this all is, I'd appreciate some comments/explanations.

2. Now my really bigger question ... when I first set up the iPod, I said no to the pictures from my iTunes albums since I only have 4 GB of space; but I have pictures anyhow.  dry.gif  How do I get rid of all those pics so I can free up space for more music?

3. Another big question: I have song lists that I won't listen to on my iPod and I'd like to dump some of this music. When I tried the manual sync button in iTunes, it tells me that this will totally erase my entire iPod and I'll have to start over? Is this correct? If I do this, will I then be able to only upload the music I want and not have pictures?

4. How come apple makes this so complicated? Or am I just getting too old for gadgets? wink.gif

Try <senuTi>. It supposedly allows you to access the Pod and do with it what you may! eek2.gif It is still not 'golden' but many have reported it answers their needs to avoid the 'all or nothing' approach of Apple/iTunes.
THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF COUNTRIES
Those that use metric = #1 Measurement system
And the United States = The Banana system

When I got my wife a 2nd gen iPod nano I also wondered what the plastic part was. Have never used it.

You can download the iPod nano (2nd Gen) Users Guide Manual @ http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/iPod_nano...tures_Guide.pdf

The manual has How To instructions.
Cheers, Tom

The white plastic thing is an adapter.

Many companies have made speakers, base stations, chargers, and other gizmos for the iPod. The older, full-size iPods are larger than the Nanos, so the Nano will not fit into third-party speaker systems, docks, or chargers.

The white plastic thing is the same width as an older, full-size iPod. If you have a third-party speaker system or charger or whatever, you put that white plastic dealie into it, then put the Nano into that.

Thanks, tacit. I found some kind of base station just a bit ago. I might have to look into getting one. wink.gif
