For no reason I could at all discern, MAIL in my MB-Pro simply ceased downloading, across 3 ISPs and 4 separate addresses/accounts. Everything AOK, however, on my iMac. Not a hiccup there.
I thought I'd check-in the Mail Forum @ Apple to see if I am alone. Somewhat surprisingly, I thought, others were reporting similar anomalies
The answer (for me) came quickly for a major poster (12,000+) and I thought refertencing it here just might help someone else.

Discussion - No incoming MailThe key is to delete from HOME––>LIBRARY––>MAIL-->the file MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded3.
That did it, instantly.
Go figure!
