Don't worry about the overwrite. I've done the same thing with lots of other apps and it always works. Like you said, Apple's just different.

Glad to hear the beta is fairly stable, since that's what I know have.

The not saving pages thing, I don't get that. I've bumped into it with FF, and switch over to Safari and can do what I want. So weird.

Don't worry about the 'overwrite.' It's still available by using the Uninstall option. "Compressing" doesn't have the 'overwrite' problem, just take a few hundred more MBs.

If you'll notice, the Safari icon, is actually for a 'bundle' folder, also known as an ".app," which you already know is actually just a 'special' folder, a "package." SO, what is 'overwritten' is actually not that icon but the file(s) inside it. And, as I say, the original(s) are still available by running the Installer and selecting the Uninstall option.

Thanks, ABD. So far the beta is running nicely and I'm okay. Helps that Safari isn't my main browser.
