You think cat names are hard, wait till they start using Greek god/goddess names!!! eek2.gif

If they do this, I’m totally done for. I have to look those names up to complete crossword puzzles.  toothgrin.gif

In reverse order: Leopard, Tiger, Panther, Cougar, Kitty, Marshal Dillon. May have the order of the earliest ones backwards... dntknw.gif

Where do Chester and Festus fit into all this?  wacko.gif

I have a close friend who works at Apple. She tells me that the cat names are on their way out; apparently Snow Leopard is the last of the species... (Sorry, I Could Not Resist.)

It seems that a certain Apple employee that we'll refer to only as S.J. was "gifted" a cute stray pussy cat during his extended convalescence following major surgery of some kind... The idea was that the cat would provide "healing energy" (Hey, Apple is in California so it kinda makes sense...) and speed-up the recovery process. (The gift was from Apple's Investor Relations department.) Anyhoo, the cat took offense at something S.J. did and started using his shoes as a litter box. Rumor has it that said kitty was anonymously "re-gifted" to Bill Gates as a "peace offering"; no word so far about how the feline is doing in his new home...

So the next OS after Snow Leopard is tentatively named "Rover." In honor of the new naming scheme certain core elements of the Mac OS will also be renamed and "tweaked."  For example, Spotlight will be renamed "Fetch It!" (My friend informs me that Apple programmers have had a heck of a time with Fetch It!; apparently it insists on retrieving the same file over and over again even when a new search term is entered...)

"Tagging" a file is going to become "marking." The Apple Menu icon will be replaced by a fire hydrant. And the Trash bin will be a 3-D image of a nice green lawn; no word yet how the lawn will appear after something is moved into the Trash.

I'll be sure to keep you folks informed as my buddy passes along more insider info...
