The 10 beta from June works fine.  Thinking.gif

It works fine for me. Have you tried quitting Opera and moving Opera preferences to the desktop, then relaunching Opera? This worked for me when I had the same problem with an older version of Opera. The path is Users/you/Library/Preferences/Opera Preferences.

There is a lot of stuff in the Opera Preferences folder so you can experiment with putting them back, one a time, until you find the guilty party (assuming that something there is causing it). Or, you can reset all your Opera preferences and trash that folder.

No problem here, either. It's very nice - and zippy. Nice to have my bookmarks in alphabetical order, though will have to get used to this, as I've become used to the location in the drop down lists in Safari! tongue.gif

Although I don't use them in Safari and it's not automatic, but you can move (non-History) bookmarks in to any order you want, manually. OTOH, I've never had to sort them by anything, anyway. All mine are named the way and with the words I want, not necessarily the site/page name. Seems an arbitrary way to do things, IMHO. Perhaps there is a pref for how one wants them sorted or even not? And I would assume that any browser would allow editing a bookmark, also. At least the displayed name... dntknw.gif Sorted the way you want, even if done manually, is a big benefit of having bookmarks in a different app than the browser; they're always in the same order, no matter what browser one happens to be using/testing. wink.gif

I haven't really looked into it, Jim - while Opera is nice, I will probably stick with Safari as my primary browser. It's the zippiest. (Just saw yet another comparison test, which I cannot find now of course, and Safari 4 came out ahead by quite a margin)

Upon investigating the prefs I discovered two folders, one for the beta and one for Opera 9. Seems as though the new download was trying to read the prefs from the 9 version. I took that one out, renamed the beta folder and the new Opera opened up.

I have always liked Opera but one thing keeps me from using it as my regular browser....the inability to select text from a page and drag it to the desktop as a clipping. That's a deal breaker for me.  dry.gif
