I just finished CRYPTONOMICON. smile.gif

Pretty good.

I especially enjoyed the WW II parts.

Stephenson is really funny.

I laughed out loud a lot. smile.gif

Cryptonomicon is my #1 all-time favorite book--the only book I've ever liked more than Neuromancer (which, if you haven't read, you will probably enjoy) and The Lord of the Rings.

It looks awfully intimidating when you pick it up, but it's one of those books where, when you're finished with it, you're sorry it's over. smile.gif

Yes. I've read those and most everything else. smile.gif

I read War and Peace in 72 hours once for the heck of it.

This one took a while longer, I was busy. 1,133 pages.

Wonder what it looked like before it was edited? smile.gif

I, too, loved Cryptonomicon!  So much that I read it twice (about a year apart).   I especially enjoyed the way the two story lines (WWII and now) intertwine and come together as the book progresses.

Stephenson is one of my favorite writers.  In fact, I'm currently reading Snow Crash for about the fourth time.

Tacit, I know that you are familiar with The Metaverse and The Street, Smart Wheels, Hiroaki, YT, Raven, Uncle Enzo, L. Bob Rife, and all those other memorable characters, but Kelly, are you?

If not, run, don't walk, to the nearest library or bookstore and get a copy - you will not regret it!

The Diamond Age is a truly marvelous novel as well.

Yeah KB. I'll have to check those out. smile.gif

Right now I'm settling for a Frank Herbert substitute.

DUNE: THE BUTLERIAN JIHAD

I hope it's better than their other books.

They were only so so.

Frank isn't writing any more though. wink.gif
