There's a place, used to be in Baltimore but now in Washington D.C. called the Dime Museum that had art made of butterfly wings and human hair.  Also had the usual two headed things!  Yuck!  getsick.gif

I've heard worse public singing than the Russian guy; someone should just tell him no!

OK, you started it. Here's my favorite Beatles melody song by the Ms. Cathy Berberian, in, no less than Carnegie Hall! If you listen to Weekend Edition Saturday (Sep 19) you could have enjoyed some of her rendition of "I Want to Hold Your Hand" No doubt to prevent it from grasping her throat!!!

QUOTE
Mr. NAYDER: ...We thought we could prove our theory that the best annoying music is produced when two great forms of music are combined that creates music so annoying it's actually dangerous. And this Cathy Berberian demonstrates [well].
If you'd like to hear more musicof this sort of thing, visit Mr. Nayder's archived shows at <The Annoying Music Show - WBEZ, Chicago>

Who needs the BBC when we've got Berberian, may she rest in peace?! tease.gif

Some have suggested it who be considered inhumane to play that around any kind of prisoner...

Apparently the lady had some training and back then, one could rent Carnegei Hall. So she did, it was recorded for the "benefit" of posterity and "That's the way it is." But the "Annoying Music Show" seemingly has no end of really bad "music" to pick from. We need a smilie for bad headache!! wallbash.gif rofl.gif

I'm skipping the dead fly thing. EEEEWWWWWW!

The Facebook joke is just strange.

The mezzo-soprano can sing, but someone should have told her to skip THAT song. It's just wrong.

But the Russian choir ... HAHAHAHAHAHA ... okay, it's not funny. Well, it is. I laughed until I could hardly breathe. I don't keep up with all things, so I wasn't aware that the Russian Navy still dressed in those silly costumes ... still dressed like they were in HMS Pinafore still ... still hadn't updated their naval uniforms. Yeah, that's it. And I'll admit that I didn't have a clue that the cutesy little ribbons on their hats had a special meaning (still not sure what that meaning is ... ). Anyhow, I thought this vid was just awful and I made a wise crack about the silly costumes and someone (wonder who)  rolleyes.gif  said to me ... "You mean the girl who likes The Hunt for Red October doesn't recognize those uniforms? You who just finished reading Blind Man's Bluff doesn't know what those ribbons stand for?"

Well ... I lost it. Completely. Totally. Like I said, I laughed until I could hardly breathe. No wonder Russia lost the cold war. Dress a soldier up in a silly little HMS Pinafore type costume and then tell him to go conquer the world? I'm still laughing. Can't help it. This probably isn't a nice post. Maybe I'll edit it later. Maybe not. At least y'all will know how strange and weird I am.

edited to add ... did anyone watch THIS. It's just ... wrong.

As one poster stated, "Маразм. Мне не понять к чему это." I guess I don't really care what the ribbons mean. And most Navies have similar "dress" uniforms. Never meant for any actual duty, of course. Many officer's jackets are modified tuxedo jackets, the ones with 'tails'. But, I'm glad you 'enjoyed' the chorus! Seems their audience did, and I have no idea when it was filmed. So the uniforms may be from the Cold-War era. Since that time, Russia has had little extra cash to spend on uniforms, much less military hardware... I think that is mostly good, but it does lead to some very dangerous situations for both their allies and the rest of the world. eek2.gif
