Aliases & Dock
« on: June 04, 2003, 06:33:19 PM »
This has been a sporadic but ongoing nuisance- on occasion, some aliases I have placed in my Dock either just don't respond or some will have a question mark in them.  Some are linked to an OS9 (Classic) App and others to a file for a Native OSX App.  To correct the problem, I have to eliminate the alias (in a puff of smoke) and replace it.  Is there some sort of confusion going on here?  Does anyone else have this particular problem?  I had it in 10.2.4 / 5 / 6.

I may be misunderstanding your message but I do not put aliases in the Dock.

Instead, I drag the application I want to be there to the Dock & drop it in there.

In effect, this action creates the correct sort of alias that you can use for easy access to the application. As it should, the original remains in the application folder.

HTH & is not utterly confusing.
