How do you open OLD Word files
« on: June 09, 2003, 12:00:34 AM »
I've got some old files I need to access. Most are like ten years old. Using "text only" won't work, as these are television scripts that need to stay formatted. Thoughts, (cheap) suggestions?

Do you have Appleworks? In particular Appleworks 4 and 5 came with a lot of DataViz translators. Or you can get the official paid version of MacLinkPlus HERE.

If you have just a few files it may not pay to buy the software. You may be able to find someone who can just open them and convert to a newer form for you.

You didn't say what machine or OS you are using. That is always a help so we can get an idea of the software you might have available natively on your computer.

You can also download a free version of WordPerfect
HERE Be sure to also download the updater for OS 8/9 if you want to use it. Also converters and tips are available from this page.

Others will probably be by with different suggestions.  wink.gif
