Microsoft Word won't print
« on: June 22, 2010, 10:55:08 AM »
So,

My wife went to print the other day from her MacBook on the Epson Color Stylus 860. The printer spewed out page after page of mixed characters and gobbledy-gook. I'm not sure which application she was using at the time. If it makes a difference in diagnosing this, I'll certainly ask!

I decided to troubleshoot the printer today, and while I could get the printer to print and show the printer utility to show in three or four other programs (Excel, SeaMonkey, Acrobat Reader, etc...) it will not print or show the Printer Utility window in the original version of Word in Office X. It will print fine from Word in Office 98 in Classic Mode.

I deleted the .plist, restarted, deleted and re-added the Epson as the default printer, etc., no joy.

This is using a drive with 10.4.11 installed. No problems at all prior to this.

Any ideas? Thinking.gif

Thanks,

Just a wild A$$ suggestion...

If you have the current driver in a download folder somewhere, reinstall it and see if that 'fills in any holes' that may have developed...

Repair printer permissions with Printer Setup Repair 5.1.2. That has solved thorny printing problems several times for me. There is a seven day free trial so you're not risking any money. BTW, Disk Utility doesn't touch many of those permissions and PSR is the only app that I have found that does so.

Jon, that's one heck of a great little program, ran it anyway to see what was going on.

Again, thanks! notworthy.gif
