WOW.gif I bought more ram for my iMac (from OWC - love those folks!) and it arrived this afternoon. Sneakers installed it (took less than 5 minutes) ... and now I am zipping!!!!! I can work in PSE without croaking my iMac! Wahoo!

Just thought you'd all to party with me. wink.gif laugh.gif

Great minds... eek2.gif I had an order for a couple of 2GB sticks ready to go but had to almost pull the plug to get away from Voice Over (see that other thread) and I managed to Quit Safari in the ordeal! My iMac can handle only 6GB total and I'm not sure I want a 2GB and a 4GB stick in there, the 4GB is very expensive, anyway. ~$96 from OWC.

I have an older iMac (please do feel sorry for me - LOL!) and it can handle 3GB total. I went from 2 512MB sticks to a 1GB and a 2GB and it works just grand. So go for it and have fun. tease.gif

    iMac:
    Model Identifier:    iMac7,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed: 2.8 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1
    Total Number Of Cores: 2
    L2 Cache: 4 MB
    Memory: 2 GB
    Bus Speed: 800 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: IM71.007A.B03
    SMC Version (system): 1.21f4

    RAM:
    Size:   1 GB
    Type: DDR2 SDRAM
    Speed: 667 MHz

Anyone heard of this model iMac actually using 6GB. I think the 4GB upgrade may be more than I need and the 4GB stick reminds me of the prices Krissel mentions! smile.gif So I'll probably just get the pair of 2GB sticks. dntknw.gif OTOH, if anyone wants to loan me a 4GB stick, I'll happily test it with one of the 2GB partners and give you first chance at my conclusions! Whatadeal?! yes.gif I'll PM my mailing address, BTW.

To figure out my ram, I went here:

http://www.crucial.com/index.aspx

and downloaded their "scanner". It showed me exactly what I had installed and what my machine could handle. I took a screen cap of it, talked it over with Sneakers, checked prices and bought from OWC because they had a slightly better deal. But "crucial.com" was highly recommended by the local Mac shops, so I have no prob telling you to give them a try.

And Krissel, I do remember those prices. :-/
