And they still don't pay dividends. dntknw.gif
THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF COUNTRIES
Those that use metric = #1 Measurement system
And the United States = The Banana system
CAUTION! Childhood vaccinations cause adults!

A few high-tech companies are starting or discussing paying dividends, but very few actually do. They usually like to claim that the money is needed for research and acquisitions. I'm sure Dell spends hundreds of dollars on research every decade! rolleyes.gif And, obviously Apple is an unusual high-tech company. Plus the risk in these types of endeavors are usually much higher than in the older, blue-blood basic manufacturing businesses. And, as long as the stock keeps growing exponentially, most folks won't be clambering for a few bucks a year in dividends. dntknw.gif

I can see that would be true, but we can compare them with the drug companies who spend millions just to bring one drug to market, and have some of them not make it.. Comparing this huge expense, it seems that the tech companies would pay at least a small div.  But they dont need to, like you say, we and our mutual fund and retirement companies continue to buy Apple, Google, and many more.

Just watching "Fast Money" last night and hearing what Apple did to derail the PC Netbooks, was sure interesting.
I too, would rather carry my iPhone around than carry one of the kids netbooks around.

Looking at what is going on in the tech world in the last 20 years, and thinking what is happening now, it sure is interesting.  My oldest grandson is extremely interested in this stuff and he is only in the 6th grade.
A great era to be alive in!
