Hello, Hallo, Bonjour, etc...

I am Reptile a previous poster and long-time lurker over on MacFormat forums, I am also on Atari-Forum and AtariAge [not that anyone on here will go there!]
My main system is of course an Apple iMac 21.5" with the standard 4Gb memory, 500Gb Hard Disk, OS X 10.6.4 Snow Leopard, hooked up to Edirol Mixer and ancient Yamaha DJ-X keyboard/synthesiser.

My main usage of this machine is music and Internet surfing though I may occasionally use iPhoto to tweak my photographs...

Looking forward to becoming part of from what I can see a good community and having some good conversations and dare I say... debates!

Aside from the Mac I also have an Atari 520STE maxed out to 4Mb [yes Megabytes] of memory, no hard disk, RainbowTOS 1.62 loaded onto ROM chip, hooked up via SCART to my Philips 19" Flatscreen TV.

And... not really a computer, but a Sony PS3 Slim with 80Gb HD.

Howdy Reptile and welcome from the NW coast of the US where I enjoy the retired life with my hubby and all the local wildlife.

I have a spiffy iMac, and hubby (aka: Sneakers) is still running a G4 PPC tower. He refuses to move up to the 21st century because he would have to let the moths out of his wallet buying new software and hardware -- and as a Scotsman that just gives him nightmares. rofl.gif Wait, he sometimes checks in here, maybe I should modify that statement.  Devilish2.gif

I, on the other hand, have a shiny iMac that I use for doing stuff. Surfing, reading, music, games and learning (slowly and not always well) PS Elements. I tend to be stubborn  whistling.gif  and like to do things MY way, and then usually ask why it doesn't work right. tongue.gif I refuse to spend hours reading a manual -- that is one reason I own a "Mac" -- it works.

Time for me to scram.gif -- dinner awaits.

Welcome Reptile; my office in infested with Italian Wall Lizards.  Actually the entire section of the town I work in is so full of them that they seem like a native species.  A guy in our office catches them but they only live six months to a year so they're probably better off running around outside.

I do know Atari-Forum - joined it when I wanted to find a home for my 1040STFM, and handed it over to Alison who was going to strip it down, clean it and rebuild it. That was in 2008. Wonder if she ever did  Thinking.gif

I guess I'm just getting old...
When did "stuck in" become a term for getting started/acquainted? I noticed the words about 8 weeks ago while listening/watching a video training course with an Australian saying it when he meant to get started on the work. It was hard enough understanding his accent without having to 'interpret' his "English!" blush-anim-cl.gif

Frankly, I'm still non-plused when someone greets me with "Hey!" laugh.gif "Hey" what?! "Hey" was always a very informal and sometimes unpleasant way of getting someones attention. It was certainly never a way to greet a friend or even get their attention. Quite unfriendly, as a matter of fact...

So...if "stuck in" means to get going, what do I say when I get... stuck...in... something and am stopped?! dntknw.gif

Wait, now I get it! Just as getting stick in mud, "stuck in" means getting "connected," as in; "We're so connected, you can't go anywhere!" laughhard.gif
