I saw an interview with her on a national US news show and she seemed to be making up a story of why she had to be texting at that precise moment to her church group or something; didn't make much sense to me at the time.  Some people, like my younger son, can walk into a mailbox or something when they're distracted. dntknw.gif Many of us are not great at multitasking it seems:

Only thing I'd change in that sentence is the "Many." It has been proven, over and over, that none of us are "great" at multi-tasking. But we are great at convincing ourselves otherwise. rolleyes.gif

Firing the guard seems quite reasonable to me. And I can understand her being embarrassed. Perhaps she has also learned a few things about public behavior? Hopefully the security people have, also. I suspect that nobody was actually watching the video feeds in real time, however. The saddest part is that no one seemed to have done anything to help the lady. OTOH, there didn't seem to be many people around, especially in the second view of the incident, that hallway seemed to be shutdown, very few lights on! dntknw.gif Apparently she didn't make as big a splash as she had hoped... Thinking.gif Live and (hopefully) learn. tiphat.gif

Actually I'm a big believer in the Darwinian survival of the fittest. If the people who are too stupid to pay attention were removed from the gene pool we might eventually end up with a stronger species.  smile.gif

Neil, appreciate the update on the gal. I saw an early interview with her where she said he dad told her not to worry, no one would know who it was and she said, in this sobbing voice, "But I know it me!" Then she blabbed to the world. rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif

The 'swimmer' would have remained anonymous if she had remained silent. I know she claimed her nephew recognized her, but he must have had a much better video to view than the one I saw. dntknw.gif

While certainly approaching the banned topic of "Politics," it is proposals such as banning pedestrians from using both earbuds that encourage the desire for regulatory reform, not to mention smaller "government." Personal safety behavior (or lack of same), like morality, cannot be imposed. That is not to say or endorse, removal of safety regulations. When an entity (corporate or personal) continues to cause harm to others, those entities must be regulated (fined/controlled/stopped/incarcerated/monitored/invited to ride a rocket to the Moon?) for the safety of "the rest of us."

BTW, that piano probably had a little "human" help in reaching its resting place...apparently, that sand bar is never covered by any normal tide, so it is next to impossible for it to have 'floated' there...without first having been on another 'floating' device (boat?). If it sounds too weird to be true...
it probably had some weird human involvement. laughhard.gif
