TS member's name & status help needed
« on: February 23, 2011, 10:02:14 PM »
I seem to remember we had a TS member in New Zealand, but I can't remember his name. I may have the location confused with that of antony(sp?) who is in Australia. I vaguely remember the avatar as a dinosaur skeleton...but that may have been antony's also. wallbash.gif

I'm only thinking about this because of the terrible earthquakes in NZ, of course. Hope he and his family are OK. Wish there were something I could do other than wonder...

Am I just loosing more of my mind/memory [not an unknown event] or does anyone have any info? dntknw.gif

Antony is from Sydney Australia. His avatar was a picture of himself in the mouth of a big 'ol shark.

His last post was in September of 2009.

That's as much as I know about anyone who's a member from Down-under.

I can only imagine how terrible it must be for the those folks in New Zealand who are going through this tragedy, and the people of Haiti and others in the world who have experienced such disaster.

I figured out it was not Antony and your description of the shark jogs my memory about that, also. I found some of his posts but the avatar didn't show up (file missing). The NZ member may just be a figment of my corrupted imagination! eek2.gif And it may be a confusion from a very, very old Google Maps feature I used that allowed people to mark their location around the world. I don't think that map exists now.

Did a search on "New Zealand" and turned up gemnfert (Sam), who joined in December 2004 and last signed in Jan 2006; I recall her mentioning a child so guess family matters took over and/or she didn't have Mac problems smile.gif

I don't recall her giving any clues to where in NZ she lived but, hopefully, it's nowhere near the disaster zone and they are all OK.

Antony has not lived in Australia for some time, ABD.

He and I have occasional iChats, going back some years, when he volunteered to help me work through the murkiest of Netscape (remember?) address book problems. He ran/runs a website called SillyDog701.org for Netscape and Mozilla people and their problems. He knows more about both than anyone I ever have encountered and was exceptionally generous in patiently advising me on solving an incredibly vexing complex of problems . . . all to a successful conclusion.

I believe he moved to Kuala Lumpur or, perhaps, Singapore. Next time he lights-up on my Buddy List, I'll tell him of your inquiry and perhaps he and his shark will drop-in to say "Hi".

Thank you guys for remembering me. Sorry that I haven't been active here in Techsurvivors, I've been a bit busy recently.

I am still living in Sydney, NSW, Australia. Still watching Desperate Housewives, still keeping an eye on Apple news.

(My parents live in NZ although, they are in Auckland.)

BTW, which one of you is "antony" in that avatar image?! tongue.gif

I'm not sure what you guys down under have been doing to upset mother nature, but it seems you might want to buy a fire-proof boat located far from tall objects! eek2.gif Stay SAFE! salute.gif
