We were one of those million households that was waiting breathlessly for our delivery...well, actually, we went out garage-saling and came back to find it on the doorstep. smile.gif We made a trip to the grocery store (Market Basket) just before returning home and THEY were selling it too - for 40% off list. Apparently most of the local book stores had already sold out their first shipments. Milk, eggs, detergent...and Harry. wacko.gif

Been reading in marathon read-aloud sessions to my eleven-year old (who keeps cheating and reading ahead when I'm busy) and my seven-year old. The seven-year old has fallen asleep both nights before my voice gave out - but my older son would happily keep me up all night reading. Really enjoying it - the older, moodier, thoroughly teenage Harry is an interesting development. Of course, I'm resisting the temptation to read on after they're both in bed...

Great fun - for all ages.

Good Evening Paddy,

I remember those days, so well. Reading to my children and encouraging them to read was a top priority when they were growing up.
I can remember seeing a faint light shining beneath the door to my daughter's room after bedtime.  I would stand poised quietly outside the door, and then suddenly open the door to her room, only to find her holed up with her book under the covers, reading by flashlight. The good news is, all four of my children still have voracious appetites for reading, often read more than three books within a seven to ten day period and are more polished and accomplished because of reading.
In retrospect, I believe it was well worth the effort.  Frankly, I enjoyed it as much as they did.

My Family got one, and I got one biggrin.gif- no one else will be trying to borrow mine.

I found the storyline to be very different, almost scary in a few ways- times have been rough at Hogwarts, but never that rough.  also the Defense Against The Dark Arts teacher is downright evil.

And with all of Fudges paranoia and "educational degrees", the "high inquisitor" seems like a rather large and uncalled for intrussion.

Oh Well

Good book otherwise

Peace-
Peter

Don't give away anything!!!!!!!

I'm still waiting for my copy in English. They have the Swedish version in the bookstore, but I started to read them in english so I want to keep doing that... plus it makes life easier for Ben too since he's also a Harry Potter fan.  wub.gif

According to Amazon.co.uk where we did order it, they'll ship it tomorrow or something like that, should be here on friday - hopefully. We order it for £8 which is about $13.40 USD.

Interesting.
Here in Germany, the German edition is not yet released, but the English was on Saturday.
And it was sold out in many stores on the same day.

Pre-order arrived Saturday morning. Thx to Harry Porter my 16 year old son has not touch his iMac, iBook,  Game Boy,  PS2 or watched TV in two days.  I'm thrilled!  clap.gif  Not a day goes by that I don't read a few pages from a good book.
