What color is the disk (gray or black)?
THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF COUNTRIES
Those that use metric = #1 Measurement system
And the United States = The Banana system

it's a DVD.. came  from a DA  i bought  whith it and where it was installed

Already install  Tiger many times a few months ago  whith this DVD,

With a copy from a friend get the same result, even on another DA ( (Maybe  a Maya's malediction ..)

Format the drive and have always the error at the end of the installation (Tryed also on two interal drives) wallbash.gif

What's the problem , what to do?

Thanks, that should be usable for your hardware.
    1. Does the disk have any visible scratches?

    2. Does the drive read other DVDs?

You have several threads on this topic and I'm confused about what was done when and where. blush-anim-cl.gif Apparently, the disk is readable enough to work on one machine. But I don't have any idea what the specifications are for all of them. I don't even know the specs on the one that you had success with. Here is one link that discusses what I think you are trying to do: Install and older OS on a machine with a newer OS. <http://lowendmac.com/ed/rosen/09ar/install-mac-os-x-tiger.htmlt>
Summary:
    QUOTE
Could install it on a third DA
    One machine.
    QUOTE
On the other whith, formating, surface test, DW, always the same error at the end
    A second machine.
Apparently you have yet a third machine.
DW is not magic. If it can't get a test to run successfully, you have a choice of running a different utility app that result or accepting the result. Running the same test more than three times seldom changes the result, especially if the result is the same all three times.

Although it's probably not what you want to hear, you could try buying a newer model Mac. However, I think it is the ability to use internal cards that is forcing you to keep buying these older ones, right? I would at least suggest that you find a more reliable source for these machines, especially if you are using eBay... dntknw.gif There are companies that specialize in older Macs, probably at higher prices than eBay, but you usually get at least a 30 to 90 day guarantee... <http://resale.headgap.com/> and <Very few systems left, however!>

Hi GR,

I would highly suspect faulty RAM, given the mixture of RAM DIMMS in your machines if I recall correctly.

Try installing with the minimum of RAM you need, pull your other DIMMS before installation, and gradually add them back in if you get it to install correctly.

Get 3 DAs, one for the web, the other for music OS9/Tiger, and a spare one...

( will buy a new model in a few months smile.gif which do you suggest?)

But for now,i swap the ram of the DA where i could install Tiger with the other one , than try an install...

This time could get  a crash log , here is the end of the log

[attachment=2288:tiger_in...crashlog.rtf]

What 's the meaning?

Thanks

Crash Dumps are great for people who can read them, a fairly small group and way beyond my meager talents. However, there are two bits of info that could possibly be related to Jon's mention of bad memory:
    Exception:  EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001)\
    Jul 24 06:27:18 osx-george crashdump[265]: Codes:      KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS (0x0001) at 0x9c184061\
Memory problems can be difficult to pinpoint without a good utility. I'm not sure you ever got AHT app to work but it has a memory testing function, I think.

GR.

IAW XABD here and Jon's earlier assessment of RAM...

Even with two different RAM test apps, I've seen DIMMS just bad without any indication from the app that they, or it, was bad. Really frustrating, but the only way to tell sometimes is if you get these OS installation crash logs, or when the installation of an OS just hangs up for no reason. And my talents regarding reading the crashdump is considerably less than Jim's! rolleyes.gif

If you're able to install on one of the DA's, keep swapping the RAM around to see which DIMM's might work. One thing you might want to do... I'm not sure that all the DA's have the same RAM compatibility, so check with Everymac.com to see the specs for each of your machines, as one of the models may or may not use the same RAM.
