I personally think there are many issues with streaming:
  1. lack of closed-captioning. (which is a deal-breaker for Sneakers and I)
  2. lack of broad selection -- including current offerings, rather than a 30/60/90 day wait.
  3. caps on bandwidth (and if your ISP hasn't instituted it yet, they will).
  4. there are MANY folks who do NOT have hi-speed Internet (loads of folks around here are on dial-up).
  5. many folks don't have Internet at home at all (just look at how busy your library is, plus all the folks who only use the net at work or free wi-fi spots).
  6. lack of decent titles.
  7. and on and on it goes.

Still it's interesting to watch what's happening in the tech world. smile.gif

Seriously, it sounds like you need to move closer to "real" civilazation! Although that certainly won't help with the lack of selection (#2) which is closely related to the lack of decent titles (#6)... And I seriously doubt anyone is willing to wait even 24 hours!!! Where in the known universe did you come up with that "30/60/90 day wait?!" eek2.gif SUrely you jest! Don't you know what instant gratification means? Even if the selections/titles don't really provide any... rolleyes.gif

Yup, the original article I linked to was about the "split" and one possible reason for the split. wink.gif I think the split stinks, and I think their price hikes stink as well. wink.gif

I think it's a joke to expand the number of people in underserved areas who get broadband when no one can afford to do anything with the bandwidth that's actually out there and they're unable to support the level of service that is at least where something interesting happens!  We use an antenna to watch digital television out of Kansas City and only watch Hulu if we miss something.  We're paying for midlevel service at AT&T and I don't see the point of Universe!

Well, it's been around for billions of years and seems to provide all the materials we'll ever need to do all sorts of things...

OH! Wait! You're talking about AT&T's <U-verse>! wallbash.gif That has something to do with Internet and stuff. DSL most likely. DSL promotes its 'guaranteed' speeds, what they don't mention is that you'll seldom get the maximum unless you live on top of the switch! laughhard.gif   OTOH, if you have too many people on the cable LAN, you can get some fairly slow speeds after school's out. dntknw.gif

Apparently, the "stink" you wrote about got to the place where the "buck stops!" <Netflix is killing Quickster>. However, not enough people have voted with the wallets and the price hike remains. Apathy Rules! rolleyes.gif

I think it has to do with their stocks losing value rather than ANY concern for the subscribers. Not that I'm cynical or anything. wink.gif
