I just downloaded AppleWorks 6.2.7 which is supposed to be a free upgrade. When I go to install the download I get "Unable to execute.  You do not have the appropriate privileges. (Error -54) What is going on? wallbash.gif

Yes, I am the administrator, I guess, since I am the only one that uses this computer, I have my hard drive partitioned. The only reason that I mention this is because of something that I thought of after I posted this. I downloaded it in the OS 9 partition. Would it have installed OK if I had downloaded it in the OS X partition? If so, can I just move the installer into the OS X partition?

For what it's worth. This is the OS X Update only.

Thanks for the info. thanx.gif  Can I just move this to the OS X partition? I hate to download it again as I just have a dial up connection, and it takes about an hour.

Might try a Get Info on it and see what Permissions are.

What version of AppleWorks do you have on OS X? smile.gif

I did a get info and there weren't any permissions one way or the other unsure.gif

I do not have any AppleWorks on OS X at the present time. I do have version 6.2.3 which I thought would work under OS X, but, when I went to open it, it opened under classic.   :roll eyes:

You are not too far from my sister. She live in Des Moines. I also have a cousin that lives in Johnston (Des Moines) and one in Cedar Rapids.

That error message, along with the number 54 suggests to me that the problem is not with the installer, but rather the disk image the installer is on. Many times I have had OS 9's Disk Copy give me that error on .smi files that I downloaded. The only thing that fixes it (temporarily) is a reboot.
