Glider "Sculpture" in credits of "Vera" series!
« on: April 18, 2012, 08:52:56 PM »
Off any topic: I just got through watching the first season of an English detective series called "Vera" which is set in Northumberland.  In the opening credits there is a glimpse of what I believe is a large outdoor sculpture that kind of looks like the body of the U.S. "Oscar" awards upright with a mono-wing across it's body.  Don't know how to better describe it but I believe I've seen it somewhere before and wanted more information about it.  Thinking.gif I got nothing more but it's kind of making me crazy!

Might send a PM to George...  Believe he has shown me pictures he has or has taken of what you are describing.  Believe it may not be very far from his location in NE England...

Operative wording here being..."believe"... But I am sure he could tell you what and where it is located.

That's it exactly; if it went up in the 1990's I must have seen some publicity about it. . .it's distinctive and suits my taste in monumental art.  When I was trying to research it I saw a picture of a large spoon stuck down into the ground with someone sitting in it.

You would win that bet; there is probably one word out of 20 that I don't quite hear and that's enough to misunderstand the scene!  I guess the next season is in the works still?

From the programme's makers - but not a lot of detail.

If you're interested in what British viewers thought of Vera, here's a thread from the UK's Digital Spy forums. Some don't like the "diluted" accents but if it wasn't diluted there's only one word in 20 you WOULD get laugh.gif

DS sometimes gets some interesting discussions, especially when they go off topic, but most of the time you wonder why some people don't get a life biggrin.gif

I think most people prefer to "lease" a life but under very favorable terms.  You can write the payments off then!

But I think that can only be done if you use it in your business/work. Being retired, I don't have that option now... Maybe I could start a service business where I can complain about things for people who are too busy to do that on their own time! I really love to complain/gripe! Thinking.gif
