DVD Burning
« on: July 11, 2003, 06:26:34 AM »
I have an iMac G4 800 / 256 / 60Gb / Superdrive, running OS 10.1.5 (waiting for Panther). I have not previously tried to burn a DVD but have produced music CD's without problems.

I created a slide show album with background music, which works fine in preview but when I try to burn, the button appears to start the burn, opening and spinning slowly for about 10 seconds, a little faster for about 5 seconds and then stops and closes. I hit burn again and same thing. Tried to eject the disc but could not. Closed iDVD and got a message asking if I wanted to burn to disc! Hit Yes (or Burn?) and away it went, making the right kind of noises. I ended up with a disc that appeared to have been burned, but nothing on it when double clicking the icon, and of course, nothing plays. Does this sound like a software or hardware problem? I'm using iDVD 2.1 and the disc I tried to burn is a x2 speed.

Hi Kelly,

Thanks for your response.

Yes, I can burn CD's.

I had already found the link that you referred to, but it was no help in regards to my problem.

I'm using Apple Certified DVD-R discs.

Kelly,

The project is not a big one.....just a photo album with background music.....about 40 photos in all.

But guess what!!

This evening I thought I would risk destroying yet another perfectly good disc and wonder of wonders, I have successfully burned my first DVD!

The only thing I did differently this time, was to select "Burn DVD" from the file menu, rather than click on the "Burn" button.

Thanks for the iDVD Discussion link Kelly.....that is likely to be visited frequently, I feel.
