Dear User,

We are sorry but your "Rant" message did not get stored or uploaded because you did not use the proper key words or designate them correctly. Please review our Guide to Posting section of our Support Site and carefully memorize the correct codes and procedures. We will even go so far as to suggest you invest in a password manager that can also store valuable, personal information in a secure manner. This will allow you to remember only one, easily remembered password for all your other needs and access them quickly, if needed. If you do not want to invest a measly 35 bucks in the world's best app , cleverly named, "1Password", perhaps you could make use of the built-in password and info manager Apple provides to all their computers. It's called "Keychain Access" and is known as the poor-man's 1Password, wanna-be. salute.gif scram.gif

Jack, I remember this being an issue a while back, but I thought it had been resolved. However ... I found this stashed on my imac. No idea why I kept it or where it came from.

Do you possibly have another device that is logged in to apple? iPad, iPhone, droid phone logged in to apple support or something? Another computer logged in to iTunes? Your own computer logged in to iTunes? (I'm trying to be helpful and think of everything that *might* be trying to send a password).

Anyhow, the suggestion was to log into the apple id page with a browser in order to verify the password. If the acct has been locked or something, it should show up when you get there.
https://appleid.apple.com

Then sign out of ALL your devices to ensure that the old password is cleared and not stored incorrectly. A reboot on your devices might be good as well. Then try logging in to the app store again and see if that works.

You can also contact apple support and see what they have to say:
http://www.apple.com/support/appleid/

I'm not a fan of the app store, but that's the only place to get some apps that I find right handy.

I do use 1Password to store all of my passwords, but I still have to launch that separately, copy my password for the app store and then paste it in. If 1Password does this seamlessly at the app store, I'd appreciate knowing how that works.

No other devices Kimmer.

Just frustration.
I think it totally ridiculous that you only get two shots, and then you are locked out.
I don't know of ANY other site that has that strict of a rule, even banking sites.

I am prejudiced against the App Store concept anyway.

It's always caused me grief some way or other.

No, Jim, I do NOT use 1Password.
That is out of personal choice.
All those who like it can use it without my permission, including you.
Nor do I use Keychain.
Again, my personal choice.

Well, uhm... Keychain doesn't really do anything evil, it simply stores any passwords you might have used, automagically, with or without your permission and or desires. Not sure why you don't at least look in there and see what it says you have used as a password. Your choice, of course, but that's why Apple has used it since OS X was born. If it helps, you've lost nothing. If it doesn't you've lost only a few minutes. I don't know how any of us can do much besides offer suggestions about how to avoid this in the future. A priding iTunes/MAS is certainly one way. Many of us enjoy supporting developers who allow downloading their apps from their own servers. But I think many people have a false idea that all developers makes thousands of dollars a week! It's just not true and the App Store has been a way to keep small developers surviving.

There are plenty of users who absolutely hate Apple for dozens of reasons. Some may envolve our own mistakes in using our apps. Some are ererz and problems created by Apple. Most get resolved by careful investigation by other users, developers and even Apple. The trick is to not get frustrated by them. wink.gif

I can totally understand and relate to this. I got to thinking about a trick I used back before I had 1Password (and I didn't realize I could open keychain and see my password). Because most sites replace the letters with a dot, or they let you see what you typed for a brief second before the dot appears (like that's really helpful), I got in the habit of typing my password in a blank textedit doc so that I could see it and know I had it correct. Once correct I would copy/paste it into the sites password slot, and close the textedit doc without saving. Kept me from being locked out.

Hope you have been able to unlock you acct. Let us know how things are going.
