How can someone trademark a mathematical symbol?

Bigger question, do I have to destroy the Pi t-shirt that Sneakers already has?

The comments at your linked story pretty much echo my thoughts... I've asked my attorney to send all of those people "Cease and Incensed" notices! Since you helped make me aware of this abuse, I'll be sending you a 0.01% "finders fee" (I'll also be filing a IRS Form 1099, so don't forget to include that with your taxes next year).

Sometimes I think the US Patent office staff is on drugs. Either that, or they don't understand the first thing about math. wink.gif

I read that article earlier this evening, and loved those comments too, Kris. biggrin.gif

I think their biggest misunderstanding is copyright "law" which they didn't exactly write... apparently, there is no 'copyright' for stupid lawmaking...
