Dpreview linked to a terrific hour-long tutorial on Lightroom by photographer Robert Rodriguez Jr. for B&H. The video is here:

Apparently there are some other very good videos done for B&H - see the Event Space section of their YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHIRBiAd-PtmNxAcLnGfwog

Thanks for the info Paddy!

With Aperture joining Claris/Appleworks in the junkyard of wasted time and money, Lightroom is, and perhaps has always been the best option.

I'm glad Adobe has provided a smooth transition, unlike Appleworks, and I've seen it will only cost $49.00 to move.

Just spent an hour or more (didn't start the clock soon enough) trying to buy an upgrade to LR 5. Found a link with the very well hidden page, trick is to change the "Buy" label to "Upgrade". You wouldn't know it was a button except by clicking on it... rolleyes.gif

Fill out the personal info, name, rank, serial number, date of birth, etc., even the CC info. Click the complete the "Sale of the Century" button and get a message that Adobe has sent me an email to "verify" the order. Great! Except for a minor problem; I haven't had that email addy for several years.

No problem, I'll just sign in (which I had already done!) and edit my account info. Super!

Except, I end up with the same message that Adobe is sending me an email to verify my identity... to the same dead, un-used, old, completely useless email address. Thought maybe I was at the Apple HQ; "Infinite Loop"! laughhard.gif

After finding the proper phone menu, it was determined that, since I did not use CC, I would have to jump through many more hoops and use the url that was read to me very quickly. Turns out the url was not quite correct, anyway, but I managed to find a "Chat" button that was answered extremely quickly. After a few confusing I said, she said, we said, 'Baneja' said she(?) understood and in less time it takes to skin an elephant, I had a new account, and an email with a link to change my (working) password. This allowed me to sign in without having another 'dead-letter' email. I could then see that there was nothing wrong with my account emails, after all. OTOH, I think 'Baneji' had entered all that for me. However, I noticed that there was already a secondary addy that I had not mentioned to her(?). Why that one was never considered/used, I know knot! wallbash.gif

So, what have you done lately for fun?! tease.gif

BTW, here's the link for the $79 upgrade: <Adobe Lightroom 6: How to Upgrade from LR4/LR5 for Only $79, Canonpricewatch.com> or just DuckDuckGo:"lightroom 6 upgrade for $79"

Word of warning:  Make sure you still have the serial number of your original installer disk; it took me about an hour to come up with my LR2 installer disk; I had been updating ever since, and either I forgot that they needed that number, or they've changed something.  If you've updated before, that version's number will tell them that it's an update, and they want your original number.  I was lucky, because I found mine; I have no idea of what hoops they'll make you jump through if you don't have that first serial number!  What a pain in the butt; I really think that they're angling for that $10/month subscription fee. . .

I was soooooooo sorry that Apple decided to quit supporting Aperture; it was so simple, and did almost as much as LR.

No more serial numbers with a subscription? Finally I hear of a positive aspect of their program! laughhard.gif Seriously, it is probably great for professionals. dntknw.gif

Good tip, no matter the media! As for this update, no disks involved, downloads only. The old and new serial numbers were requested during the installation process, but that was handled by 1Password! cheer.gif Just another of it's great features; download url, company support site, original cost, dates, etc. Of course, it searches the drive and inserts the correct icon for any app you create a record for. I can live without LR, but I'll quit using a Mac if I can't have 1Password... URLMPro comes in a close second, too. thumbup.gif
