ibook g3 wifi problem

Hi every one I have a iBook G3 300mhz that won't connect to my wifi
the signal strength is good and it picks up my network but when I type in my password for wifi it says doesn't match

Any help would be great
Checking everymac.com it says the airport card is 802b of 811b wifi

Since our best techie folks haven't posted yet, I'll simply ask for a bit more info:
1. What version of OS X are you running?
2. What model/brand of WiFi router are you using?
3. Have you checked your Keychain to see if it has a record of that password? If you're using a fairly new version of OS X, the app you need to open is Keychain Access. You'll probably still need your Admin password to make the app show the password(s) you used for the WiFi router.

A. Select "Passwords" in the Category list.
B. To the right should be a list of 'places' where Keychain has logged passwords. If you have an Airport base station, it might be quickest to click the "Kind" column and look for "Airport base station" or something similar.

Just to show you how non-techie I am, I have a pretty simple password for our WiFi router, so the five household users can help each other out... usually. I even have it written in the extremely small "manual" that comes with the Apple Extreme! The problem with passwords for things we seldom use is... we seldom have our BRAM* "refreshed"!

*BRAM = Brain Random Access Memory

Welcome to TS, Aussie Jay. TThe security protocol for the password could also be an issue; as Jim says, we need to know which router you're using, what OS on the iBook (and on your other devices) - and whether you're using WEP, WPA or WPA2 Personal etc.

There are lots of complaints online from those using newer routers with old Macs, judging from a few quick Google searches. The iBook is now 15 years old, capable of running an OS that is at best, 11 years old. Unfortunately, it gets harder and harder to make things backward compatible and still support all the shiny new features as time goes on.

Anyway - let us know what you've got on the router hardware/OS front and we'll see if we can help. It may, in the end, be easiest to keep the iBook hardwired for internet access; certainly it will be faster.
