iPhoto going away

I have 2 Macs just full of photos in my iPhoto albums.
And I am reading this article, iPhoto will be discontinued along with Aperture.

This article is warning us and telling us what to do with our Image Libraries.
We will eventually have to move them all to the new "Photos for OS X"

Mine are all backed up anyway, but I wonder why they are doing this.

I have the best on Flickr, my own sites, pbase, and more, but its nice to have all the pictures on one computer.

Actually it isn't, its in the new October issue on page 88.
I haven't bought Lightroom yet, I want to, but we've been so busy with all this wonderful weather that I know I wouldn't have even peeked at it.
Waiting for winter.

We will have to see how Apple handles this and what they offer us for iPhotos replacement?

If the new article has additional info, why not put a link to it. dntknw.gif If it's just a rehash of the old one... meh. iPhoto's/Aperture's deaths are not exactly news. dntknw.gif

I'm SO glad I opted for Lightroom instead of Aperture back when I was deciding between the two.

Apple has not yet released a lot of information about Photos for OS X, but an Apple statement quoted by MacWorld did say that iPhoto and Aperture users will be able to seamlessly move their existing photo libraries to Photos for OS X.

Thats good news, I certainly will wait before I do anything, just keep backing up all my photos in various places and hard drives.
