HELP! Last night I was attempting to install my legal copy of CS6 on my new MacBookPro. Since there isn't a CD drive, I pulled the app over (networked to iMac). When launched it, it asked for my serial number, and I entered that; then a dialogue box said parts were missing and to download and run the Adobe App Manager. I did that. Relaunched CS6, and Adobe demanded (as in wouldn't allow me to go any further) that I log in to Adobe.com with my Adobe ID. Okay, everything is registered and not an issue, so I did that. Suddenly I'm stuck with the creative cloud stuff and I can't stop it and now I
think I'm registered for the cloud, but I’m not sure. So today I searched for help to determine if I actually have a creative cloud acct or not, and now I can get past plugging in my Adobe ID and then the next screen starts asking for my birthdate. Why? It says it's for security purposes, but the prob is I often .... ummm ... fib about those things with companies 'cuz' I figure it's none of their business
-- so I have no clue what birthdate I gave them. (Correct I didn't write it down because I never imagined I'd need it again. DUH!)
Anyhow, I can't get past this birthdate log in on ANY adobe page, so I can't even find contact info and don't know how to find out what's going on, and then cancel any cloud thing.
In the meantime, I'm so ticked at Adobe that I uninstalled all Adobe products on my laptop (no biggy since they won't run anyhow), and I'll use either Apple Photo thingy or I'll learn how to use Affinity photo.
However, if anyone can point me to a solution to this mess so I can make sure I'm not a cloud member, I'd really appreciate it.
From the sound of it, you don't have a Creative Cloud subscription--at least if you never gave them payment information.
You pretty much have to install Adobe apps either by using the installer or by cloning your drive. You can't just drag the app from one computer or drive to another--there are pieces parts, including encrypted license files, splattered all over your hard drive. This is deliberate, and is intended to prevent people from doing what you're attempting--passing about copies of Adobe's apps. (Photoshop has been named the most pirated application in existence.)
