Trackpad sensitivity
« on: August 01, 2015, 02:32:51 PM »
Okay. Since I now have a shiny new MacBookPro that uses the trackpad, and I happen to have a "Magic Trackpad" here, I figured it would be helpful to become a trackpad user. Wow. I'm messing up so many things, but I'm learning (and at least I can undo most of what I've messed up).

One issue with the trackpad is the sensitivity. All I do is look at it and it clicks/moves/selects --and that's how I've messed up files. Is there a place to adjust the sensitivity? I've set the tracking speed down almost to the lowest, but that doesn't appear to have adjusted the touch sensitivity. Or maybe my fingers are heavier than I think they are? haha

Also ... sometimes I accidentally double tap and I will "zoom in" on the page and everything becomes huge. How do I undo that without having to go to the view menu constantly?

Any other great tips would be appreciated before I go nuts (and yes, it's a short trip for me!)

Obviously, you looked at the quaintly named "Trackpad" System Prefs... On my Magic Trackpad (used with my iMac, I can't stand those tiny laptop screens!), it takes a tap with two fingers to get that zoom/un-zoom function. But the exact action is selectable in a pop-up menu in the "Secondary click" section. Double-tapping simply selects whatever is under the cursor. There is also a three-finger tap, but getting that many fingers on the surface at the same time is nearly impossible for me! It only calls up the Dictionary and it's easier for me to simply control-click (and sometimes the right button on my aged Mighty Mouse still works for that cheer2.gif)!

You might try setting the double-click speed in Accessability!

I suspect my Magic Trackpad is not as sensitive to clicks as your trackpad; mine has a generous amount of movement and a nice sound to give me feedback! wink.gif Just another reason I use a mouse when I use Judy's MBP; I detest those trackpads... but I really do like the Magic Trackpad (or whatever it's called)!

THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF COUNTRIES
Those that use metric = #1 Measurement system
And the United States = The Banana system
CAUTION! Childhood vaccinations cause adults!

Well, I've now made my hand and arm hurt from dealing with the 2 trackpads. I've gone back to my mouse with my iMac, and will only use the trackpad when I'm using the MBP. I bought the MBP for a couple of specific purposes and will stick to using it for those so that I don't overdo the trackpad ache in my arm.
