Double trouble
« on: August 25, 2015, 09:06:09 PM »
So I produce a picture file from a nikon 5200 DSLR and save it on the SD disk, a DVD, and a thumb drive as a .jpg, .psd, and a .pdf to cover all of my bases and what happens, no retail store is able to read any of the the files?  Of course all the weird data and antique picture files on the thumb drive show up but other than that not the file produced from PSEelements 12 on a MBP mid 2009???!!!

Can anyone shine some light on this matter?

That certainly is a puzzle. Have you tried using an upload service from any of the retail places (I'm guessing you are trying to have it printed).

Have you done a "Get Info" on the file or the folder that it is in to check permissions? Does the file name end with ".jpg", etc.?

I'm assuming you have the new version of PSE and used that to save the files in the other formats. Unfortunately, that sounds like the common link.

Do you have any other image editing/viewing apps? Even iPhoto? I think you can still get free versions of GraphicConverter. My reasoning is try creating the different versions/formats with another app and see if any of those retail places can read those. You might even try PSE, again. Sure hope you can get that image restored! yes.gif

BTW, don't use any non-keyboard characters in the file names, Windows is not terribly 'smart'. rolleyes.gif  Also no "\", "/", "?", ".", or even spaces! And make sure the name starts with the 26 letters of the alphabet, also. wallbash.gif

Greetings and thanks for your input on the post!
 The scenario went like this:

Looks like it was equipment errors at the labs that I tried that were at fault!

A heart felt thanks went out to Danielle at the Sam's that went out of her way to get the printing done for my unique needs.  She even went as far as trimming them for me.

An oh so rare occurrence... whatever happened to "The customer is always right" (even when he's not) attitude? rolleyes.gif

Glad you found a 'work-around' and especially that you found an employee with a desire to help! Whenever that happens, I try to contact the company and a supervisor, if possible, and let them know of an outstanding employee. I worked for FedEx for most of my civilian career and always made sure the couriers understood that, to the customer, they were "FedEx". wink.gif
