THE WATCH
« on: November 15, 2015, 12:54:00 PM »
Have been perusing the "reviews" on "the watch", which for the most part are pretty favorable. The wavelengths originating from SWMBO have been vibrating lately with subtle hints of how it would make a nice Xmas present. snowglobe.gif

Anyone here tried one yet??? losemarbles.gif

WARNING: Useless anecdotal experience ahead!
I haven't had (or at least used) a watch since I retired some 12 years ago. dntknw.gif If I need to know what time it is, it is extremely rare not to have a clock very nearby. My wife does wear a watch. It has been replaced by a FitBit version that is worn on the wrist and it can tell you the time with a button push. It is supposedly for monitoring her physical efforts throughout the day, but I often find it laying on a counter. Obviously, it is not being used for its intended or even secondary purpose! laughhard.gif

Of course, a "gift" hardly ever need be practical or even useful, as long as the recipient is happy, what else matters?! yes.gif

I still wear a watch and have to remember to wind it every day. It was a 21st birthday gift from my parents, so it's been going for over half a century. It had a service about 10 years ago, when the repairer attached a label bearing the legend "Antique watch" for the expert who would be working on it. The watch was not cheap (it's Swiss) but the service almost certainly cost far more than the watch did. Had a couple of digital watches many years ago but found my brain responded better to the position of the hands than to a row of digits.

Also, being a cheapskate, I hate buying batteries Devilish2.gif

To add to Jim's comment if the result is almost certain to be a happy wife - go for it!

I can sure relate to that. tongue.gif  (This one is suppose to be rechargeable)

I had to let the cat outta the bag cause there are SO many options, ie: color, style, size, bands, etc. To spend that many $ on something I THOUGHT she would like only to find out it didn't match her shoes or something could have been less than ideal. Gonna hit the Apple store in Spokane this week to check em out. doh.gif

ABD:  Don't have to worry about it resting on the counter.  While she does not sleep with one she walked the halls of teaching hospitals for about 25 years so the watch is just part of her wrist. (she also does the fitness thing too). thumbup.gif

Stumbled into a heck of a deal at Best Buy.(Apple store is 50 miles away)  Went in just to look (of course).  They had an "OpenBox" watch, of the color, shape etc etc etc. (probably match her shoes too).  Walked out with it, and the necy accessories (protected case, tax, title   etc) for less than $400. Savings of $97 all told.
