Help!Email Installation Problem with Outlook

Somebody Help Me, Please,

I have been busy with the Cox Internet Installation and the download went without a hitch.  IE is up but not Outlook Express.  Bernie had both Icons up and ready for use when I received the Mac.  Somehow, when my husband (a Wintel kind of guy) went in to add additional email addresses, he made an error. After two hours of trying to "help" he has given up and gone off to bed. Now, the system is telling me that the OE Schedules have been corrupted and won't let me back into my email or any other things concerning OE.  I went into the identity files for each identity it gives me the same error notice, the whole thing is corrupted according to the system.  It simply won't allow any access to the OE using that icon.

When I called Cox Tech Support, all he said was to do an install using the CD.  If it didn't work, download another Outlook Express.

Those of you who know me know...
I don't even know how to do a download.
 
   
I used the Cox CD to do another install, but then was directed to a browser screen telling me to pull up OE, as this is the only email "proxy" that they have listed on their choices for Mac.
 
1) Where can I get an Outlook Express download for my Mac OS 8.6 and what version should I use?  

2) What should I do and how should I go about deleting the corrupted
OE Schedules?  Do I need to do any other systems type work on this?

3) In what order should I do this?

Myrna. If you have no E-Mail to lose. Throw existing OE Folder in the Trash.

Hi, Try this. Simply Trash the icon on the desktop. Then go into the original Outlook Express and try the original icon.  If that does the trick to a working email program Good  Then go into your Outlook Express folder and "Highlight the Outlook Express icon". Then go to the File menu and scroll down to "Make Alias". Once you see another icon appear. Drag it out of the folder onto the desktop. You can then use the OE icon on the DT. Hope this helps.

Sorry misread your post. Look inside the "Internet Folder" If I remember It's in the "Internet Applications" folder. the same folder

I donwloaded the OE using IE.  The new icon is on the desktop, but there is a dialog box with the OE saying "To install copy this folder to your hard disk."  I thought that the download was all I needed to do. I can't open the icon because, I guess, there's nothng in it -yet.  How can I copy this to my hard disk? Do I need to do this?

Hey Myrna, what did you name your hard disk? you know, the icon on your desktop?

Let’s refer to it as  “Myrna’s HD” for this little lesson, OK? But don’t change the name.

when they say......
“To install......... copy this folder to your hard disk”

they mean, drag it to your hard disk Icon. “Myrna’s HD”

Put your cursor over the folder
push your mouse button and hold it down when your over the folder
and drag it to the little icon picture of your hard disk “Myrna’s HD” on the desktop. That’s it! You just  “copied this folder to your hard disk”

Now, when it’s on your hard disk you can open it up.

It can be as easy as that or you can put it in a special place. For now let’s just have it sit on the TOP Level of your hard disk. Which means, when you double click “Myrna’s HD” and a list of contents appears, you will see it on the list rather than contained inside one of the other folders.

It’s time for me to crash so I’ll let someone else walk you through the door.

I hope they don't feel shy about jumping in.

I don't know what that original error message meant.

That's why I suggest trashing the whole older Application.

That's assuming you have no e-mail yet to lose.

What is your Hard Drive named?

It's the Icon that's in the top right of your Screen.

Mine is named "Hard Drive".

When you click on it twice it opens up and you see all your stuff.

Eventually this will all make sense to you.

I doubt it's any harder than the webtv you're used to.

Just different, for now.

Hello kelly,
I have been really busy and very tired.  I lost two
days of my life trying to figure out how to get this
Email up and running.  
Yeee Haaa!  It's a done deal.  I spoke with this Cox Tech Support  guy in Georgia and he used a remote fix to restore and "flush" my applications.  I am now online
officially with the Mac.

I have been in touch with RHPConsult, Bernie and
SnowWitch, during my transition from WebTV/MSNTV
to Cox Internet.  

I didn't think it was possible to be even more tired
than I have been with regular Radiation Treatment.
The last five treatments are called a "Boost",
a magnified Radiation Treatment.  Besides leaving
the skin looking like rare roast "beast" it starts to
really hurt, get irritated and makes me really tired.
The good news is,


  it's almost over!  I complete my "Boost"
next Wednesday.  

I still have to see all my Specialists for the next five
years, but not as frequently.  I will be receiving
Chemotherapy (pills) for the whole five years,
and if I show no more signs of Cancer, I will be
officially discharged.  It's going to be a long five
years for me.

In a few months, I hope to have my hand surgery.
It's painful to try to play the piano or hold a pen.
I just need to take it one day at a time.

I have done two downloads and printed them out
today!

I set up my address books and I am getting used to
IE and OE.

Thank you!  I am now up and running.
What a mess I had after two days of work to get
Cox up and running using IE and OE had it's own problems.  

    My husband tried to help, but he is not a
Mac user.  

There is so much to learn and I am really just
beginning my "Adventure" using a real computer
and a real Internet Service.
