I've started noticing this double arrow* on the NOAA weather site, but I can't find a key to tell me what it means. Does anyone know?

*Look in bottom right corner next to the low temp.

Until they refresh the page, you'll find it here: Oops, already modified the weather forecast for tonight, so the little arrow is gone.

I have a few links to things like that but I'm sitting in the car waiting for a rider to return and don't want to use this tiny screen! wallbash.gif (not to mention the spelin korequetor)!!!

It may simply be a way of saying the low may be higher than that. "38 or higher"

THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF COUNTRIES
Those that use metric = #1 Measurement system
And the United States = The Banana system
CAUTION! Childhood vaccinations cause adults!

It means that the temperature will be rising overnight from that low.

And that is different how?! I suppose a few times a year the low temp occurs just minutes before Sunrise. rolleyes.gif kind of requires  warm front moving through before Sunrise... dntknw.gif

Usually, the temperature does not rise until after dawn. It appears that the sun contributes to global warming on a daily basis.  whistling.gif

On occasion, however, the temperature may increase prior to sunrise.

Not sure I completely understand, but I'll take your word for it, Jon.

Of course, the forecast has now tanked a bit and instead of just cold, we are due to have clouds, then sleet, with ice and more tomorrow morning. If this forecast comes about, there goes my excursion down the hill. 🌨❄️☃️⛄️

You need to fire your weathermen! All of them! And any weatherwomen, also! That's what we do down here if they even mention freezing precip! It's in our County Charter that we allow that kind of stuff only with 48 hour notice to allow closing schools and clean out all grocery stores at least a day ahead of that kind of weather! Another cluse requires any snow/ice to sublimate or melt within 24 hours of the end of such a calamity! rant.gif Ironically, our newly hired weather people have forecast snow/sleet/rain tonight! Apparently, they did not check the reason they were hired! They should have seen that they are merely replacements for those who dared allow such weather last time! wallbash.gif

Technically, Sunrise is before "dawn", which is defined as the Sun being 6° above the horizon. That means the Sun approximately fully visible. I was giving the Sun a bit of a head start.

All I was saying is that the low would/could start rising well before either "dawn" or Sunrise only if a warm front passes the thermometer. By definition, a warm front is air that is warmer than the air in front of it. Of course, even a minor volcanic eruption, near the thermometer could be enough to raise the temp, but they are not usually predicted with such accuracy as even the weather! eek2.gif
