Is my CF Card Adapter a PC Card?
« on: February 24, 2003, 03:24:00 PM »
I have a Pismo with a PC Card slot.  When I bought a Ridata Compact Flash card for my Canon digital camera, I received a CF Card Adapter with it.  Could this be the same thing as a PC Card?  I started to slide it in the slot, and it appears to go all the way in, but before I go all the way, I want to be sure this is the right type before inserting it all the way and possibly getting lodged in there.  The type I have is one that houses my compact flash card.  Boy, if this works, that will eliminate having to hook up my Firwire Card Reader all the time.

I gave it a go and it worked fine.  Seems like opening the card icon that shows up on the desktop is a bit slow, but nevertheless, it will work great.

Is my CF Card Adapter a PC Card?

Those handy-dandy CF card adapters are great - I rarely use my USB card reader on the Sawtooth anymore (half the time I have to unplug it and plug it in again before it shows up anyway...) - popping the card in the adapter and into the slot on the Powerbook is so much easier and faster - and it always works. Just don't forget to drag the CF card image to the trash before ejecting it. One of the many reasons I'm glad I opted for a Powerbook instead of the PCMCIA card-slot deficient iBook!
