Purchased same item from
newegg
about a month or so ago. ($43 for drive, $68 USB/FW combo enclosure) Works very well, though I had to download a humongous upgrade (on dialup) for Toast to get the higher speeds.

I have Toast Titanium and the updater to recognize the higher speeds (5.2.1) was 21.7 MB which is large for my 32k download speed. There are other updaters to the software that came with Toast but one is 53MB. They want $16 to get an update CD which I may have to go for or finally go cable one of these days.
HERE
are the various updates for Toast.

Hey kris, the Discus portion on the Roxio 5.2.1 CD is close to 600mb alone, if memory serves.

Oh ok.
You're talking about the actual 5.2.1. update.
Can't recall when I did the download but I was flying a 26k back then.
Now I'm at a lightning 28k.

Pretty soon, you and I will be the only ones on that road.
The rest will be in the fancy aro-planes with DSL or Cable.

Ok Kelly on subject..... a friend today ask about a burner and I told them that I had just seen one for about $50 bucks, which was the one you posted. Is there a $50 external USB for PC burner to be had somewhere?

Sandbox. That would be my last choice for a burner.
Doesn't your friend have room for a CDRW Internal?
If it
has
to be External then they should get a USB 2 Card.
Cheapest USB Enclosure I've found. I'm sure there's others.
COOLMAX 3.5/5.25" EXTERNAL USB 2.0 OPTICAL DRIVE ENCLOSURE $35

There's just no end to cheap CDRWs.

On the mac side you try to find ones to work with iTunes and such.

Actually. More often than not it's been 49,333
And it connects a lot quicker since 10.2.6
Used to take twice as long to connect as OS 9.x
Nothing I've done to deserve this Bill.
Has to happen to someone I suppose.

I suggested the external to Diane (friend) as an easy way out. plug&play
I sent the Lite-on info to her, if she needs assistance I'll call Buddha.
Any pc software recommendations?
