New boards are open - come on over!
« on: May 28, 2018, 09:32:20 PM »

Rather than keep on posting here, we (the admins) are inviting you over to the new forums at https://techsurvivors.net/smftest

We will be closing the IPB forum soonish (as soon as Paddy finds the time) and the URL will eventually be the same as it is now (forums instead of smftest) but we're busy playing over on the new software - Simple Machines Forum (SMF). Our IPB software was ten years out of date and the only option with IPB was paid and we weren't sure we wanted to go down that road for various reasons. It was definitely time to do something before things really broke though.

We have imported all the old posts - EXCEPT for the ones made in the past 3 weeks, since we started this exercise. We do hope to copy the posts made in the interim, but please bear with us - they may look as if they've all been made by one person on one day until we get around to correcting the user ID/name and date in the database.

You will have to reset your passwords - the reset works exactly as it does here on the IPB forum and you should get an email very promptly to do the reset.

And finally - please excuse the look of things - we're still "moving in" and things will be changing on the fly. There are a bunch of themes we're trying out and modifying - and you're welcome to comment on what you like and what you don't and what you'd like to see changed. We welcome input. And encouragement! :) We'll try to post some instructions on things - you'll also need to re-upload avatars and your sigs may be messed up if you had links or HTML or anything other than just text in them. Poke around in your user profiles - you can change the board theme there (no toggle on the board itself like IPB, btw). If you get muddled ask - or Google "SMF + (whatever is puzzling you)" and you will likely find the answer. There is a very good SMF community - though it's more geared to board admins than users.

Hope to see you all over there and we do hope you'll all enjoy TS' "new house"!!
