« on: March 10, 2019, 03:42:12 PM »
Great section of WSJ on 5G, its the Wednesday, Feb 27 issue, the "5G, What's Next" section of that issue.
The family is fighting over it, so Ive just gotten my chance to read it.

I think you'll have plenty of time to read that article since real 5G systems are barely available and there is a "big" push for "6G" already. :laughhard:

...today, there's more 5G hype and 5G word games than there is actual 5G. Verizon is offering 5G home Internet in a few cities, but for now it's based on Verizon's own technology rather than the 5G NR (New Radio) global standard.

AT&T has deliberately misled customers by relabeling large portions of its 4G LTE network as 5G.

We are so rural here, that we wont see it soon. Even Verizon isn't going to do any updating on the old copper land line system. Every time it rains, we get tons of static. And if there is some high winds, the ocean salt coats everything and more static is there.
G6, wow, thats probably line of sight? So everybody would have to have a dish?

Perhaps you didn't notice... There are not even any specifications for 6G yet. It's not much more than speculation at present. The point is, even "5G" is mainly marketing hype. I'm waiting for 7 ...8...G's. The more "G's" the better, right?  :laughhard:
Personally, I've highly invested in oil lamps. When this electricity fad blows over, I'll make a killing in the markets!!! :yahoo:

We have a good cable system here, and our iPhones are pretty fast. Which is OK for us, as we watch very little TV, and dont really need incredible speed for the phones, cause we dont download tons of stuff, as the grandkids do.  But it would be nice,,,,,,
