My iMac won't recognize new email account

I have several email accounts on my old 24" iMac.

My main email account is with my ISP, and I have a Yahoo and Google email account.
Yesterday, I set up a new Yahoo.com mail account for a specific promotional project.
Was able to set it up on my iPhone 8, and MacBook Pro. No problemo!
The same password works when I log-in to yahoo.com to access that email account.

BUT, when I enter the same password on my iMac, it tells me "Mail cannot connect to the yahoo account."
Which is where I need the most to access to access other files, images, etc.
Here this Yahoo mailbox is totally empty, yet I have sent and received emails on my iPhone and MBP.

In System Prefs/Internet Accounts window, it shows my new Yahoo mail account and it is checked.
When I click on DETAILS - it has the right name and description.
When I enter the password field, it says "unable to verify account or password."

When I send a yahoo email from here, it gets stuck in the Outbox with this message:
"cannot send message using this server smtp.mail.yahoo.com:..." "McMail Error Domain error 1032".


Aaargh! Any ideas how to fix?

For lack of another idea, have you run any repair apps (Disk Warrior, TechTool Pro, Disk Utility)? It's worth a shot.

Okay, I'm shooting a little blind here as I don't use Mail and what I found on the web had to do with iPhones, but pretty sure you're facing the same issues.

"MCMail Error Domain error 1032" (not MCMail) refers to something incorrect in the outgoing (and possibly incoming) mail server you have set up. I'd suggest going and getting the correct server information from Yahoo, and then plug it into all the correct places in Mail (delete the info you've already plugged in and paste in this new information-even if they look the same). If there are other places to plug in incoming/outgoing server information, hopefully someone who uses Mail will speak up and tell you where to plug this info.

With luck (?) this will solve your problem. If not, perhaps someone else will be along soon with a better answer.

I've spent hours trying everything and here's whats not working:
I set up a 2nd TEST yahoo mail account. Both work on my MBP and iPhone, but neither works on my iMac.

I've compared my Mail Account Settings on my MBP and iMac. Something is not the same...
In my iMac/ Mail/Accounts/MyYahoo/Account Information/Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) -  shows "None".
When I click on that field it takes me to "Edit SMTP Server List".
In that List, I see all my email accounts (main, google, yahoo), but the Yahoo emails have a blank listing under the heading "IN USE BY ACCOUNT).

I cannot find out how to get the right information into that column!
