Magic Track pad wont connect
« on: April 28, 2025, 04:59:20 PM »
I have been using the "magic Trackpad" for years with no issues. I think I left it and the computer unattended a few days and the batteries went completely dead. Now it will not connect.Had to dig out a wired mouse. I think the computer went thru an auto update during this period to OS 15.3.2.Could be a contributor?I have tried all of the normal things, new batteries, restarts, ect.  :sos:

1. Is this the 4½" x 6" pad?
2. Does it show in the Bluetooth menu? It should show the battery charge, even if it's 0%.
3. Does there appear to be any corrosion on the internal battery contacts?
4. Is the Tee-niney little switch is ON? You may not have that on yours.
5. Is there any kind of USB cable attached? Be sure it is all the way in.
6. Have you tried another cable?

1.   Yup model A1339
2.   hmmm maybe a clue. it shows up in the blue tooth indicator but does not show up  in the system settings, only    the mouse, keyboard, and printer(s)
3.   no corrosion visable
4.   the only switch is on the starboard end if the battery compartment, and it flashes the green light indicating it is looking, but never connects.
5.   no cables
6.   na

I will update the list, however everything but the system software is pretty much the same, currently running os 15.4.1 on both the 27 inch iMac and the mackbook air.

I am now thinking that since it all worked before we left for a few days and I do not recall what os was running then, that an upgrade happened and now 15.4.1 might have a bug, OR the dead battery(s) caused damage.

I do recall when you made the switch to the magic trackpad way back when.  I had been using it for quite a spell then.

A few minutes with "uncle Google" leads me to believe the issue is with osx 15.4 (and probably before). Cannot find a definite answer as to weather or not apple supports this device (A1339). Hello mouse until it gets sorted out. :wallbash:
