Amazon has an uncomfortably personal profile on you has info about what Amazon knows about you and instructions for deleting that info. It can be tedious but it seems to work.

Another issue with Amazon: I got an email listing several items that I had previously ordered. I clicked on one that I wanted to reorder and found no way to avoid joining Amazon Prime in order to get it. Finally, after jumping through several hoops, I managed to order it without joining AP. Beware!
