Reading through the site makes you want to barf at some of the descriptions :

QUOTE
To finish, once a system is configured and is being manufactured we individually randomly test one unit out every 100 per batch to re-check for any possible minimal change in hardware components and for variations in initial burn-in electric properties. Finally, prior to shipping each computer is put through a brutal burn-in CPU, Memory, Graphics bus and critical components maximum utilization stress-test for 72 hours. In total, over 300 points are diagnosed in every unit, from sound quality, keyboard function, CD-Drive/ burning physical operation, LCD display stuck pixels, etc, to guarantee its impeccable operation. And at the end, if a system does not benchmark to certain standards we simply do not ship it out and start from scratch. This all adds to around 300 hours of detailed and dedicated manufacturing craftsmanship, put into every machine we build to guarantee you absolute crown performance so that when a system reaches your hands, it has been thoroughly checked by many others before.

There was another description elsewhere that was even worse but too long to post here.

However, the people who have created this site went to an awful lot of trouble if it is a hoax. The store actually has a SSL checkout and it seems that MacCentral bought into it as well.

According to a dutch website it's not only a hoax, it's the next evolution in ripping people from their money.
Although they don't have anything to proove, they are really concerned about the fact you can not pay with visa (transfer would be checked by banks) and you can only order inside usa.
They are affraid that after a week... the site will be gone together with the people who ever started it.
Sure the site looks awesome, and  yup it looks like a rip off from Mac (let's attract people with nice design, but let's make it intel based cause that gives us a much wider range of consumer targets).
With the prices they are asking... and IF this really is a rip off, than the costs of that site doesn't matter.
Than again, if it's for real, it looks promising.

I'm curious unsure.gif

Just for fun(?) I did a search on the name and phone numbers. Didn't find anything with the '877' number. The name (and state-CA) turned up a Psychotherapy group! Maybe this is some ones idea of 'therapy!' doh.gif  eek2.gif  wacko.gif

Tired of that puny little 23-inch Apple Cinema Display? Then Libermann Inc., a high-end computer and technology manufacturer, has just what you need: the new Grand Canyon Professional Desktop Monitors Series, which are available in 76-inch, 81-inch and 92-inch sizes. All are Mac compatible.

The 76-inch monitor costs US$8,499.99, the 81-incher is $12,499.99 and the 92-inch version is $17,499.99.

Now let's see, should I get the 76" or the 92"....hmmmmmmmm.

I'd probably have less neck strain with the 72". laugh.gif

Hi Bruce,

When you do a whois search, you shouldn't include the "host" part of the name. That is the www part or anything else that might be something leading the actual domain.

Here is whois info for go-l.com

[diana@Hawk diana]$ whois -h whois.internic.net go-l.com
[Querying whois.internic.net]
[Redirected to whois.melbourneit.com]
[Querying whois.melbourneit.com]
[whois.melbourneit.com]

Domain Name.......... go-l.com
  Creation Date........ 2003-06-13
  Registration Date.... 2003-06-13
  Expiry Date.......... 2004-06-13

  Tech Fax............. +1.4045860001
  Name Server.......... a.ns.interland.net
  Name Server.......... b.ns.interland.net

Melbourneit.com is an Australian registrar, but the domain seems to be hosted by a US company since its IP originates in US IP space. Interland usually doesn't provide DNS unless you host with them, so I would assume go-l.com is hosted at Interland. The rest of the whois info for go-l.com could be fake, but if they are for real, then it shouldn't be.

There is sure a lot of work put into that site, but these days the amount of work required to make something appear legit doesn't seem to deter the crooks if it gets them what they want. So good looks don't equal validity..smile.gif

So, just for fun since I"m a curious sort, I put Exuis in Google and after digging through several references to French and Italian websites, I found this one.

Horse Training in LA
One the above page is a listing for
Lisa Ciesniewski
Bookkeeping / Training / Lessons / Hunter/Jumper / Body Clipping / Catch Rider
Marina Del Rey, CA 90295. 310-562-6814
Inf@exuis.com

Note the same phone number for Lisa here as in the whois for go-l.com. Her e-mail is inf@exuis.com  (probably a type and should be "info@exuis.com"  Exuis is an active domain but there is no web page...and it was also registered through the Australian registrar... see below

Note: Lisa's e-mail in whois is @softhome.net. Softhome.net provides free and paid e-mail accounts.

NOTE HERE: None of this means that the go-l.com isn't legitimate. I'm just illustrating a small part of the information that one can find using public "tools". Lisa may even be corporately unrelated and only responsible for the web design, or maybe she is a "reseller" for Interland. Or maybe she is multi-tasking and riding horses on a contract basis and running scams at the same time..*grin...not enough info yet to know.

see ya,

Curiouser and curiouser...

MacCentral interviews Lisa who defends it all as real.

The discussion that follows is interesting. smile.gif

She is listed on the site as :

QUOTE
Lisa Ciesniewski
Media Relations Director
310-902-2276
press@go-l.com
lisa_ciesniewski@go-l.com

I did a reverse lookup on that number which came up with nothing though that is not a diffinitive conclusion of nonexistence of course.

I also ran Googles on Miguel Liebermann last night to see if he was mentioned anywhere on the web considering he was some sort of producer he must have a trail of info. Nope.
I did find a Forbes article from a couple days ago announcing the monitors but Forbes has pulled the article. Google has the article cached here.

I'm mostly suspicious that there is no mention of Liebermann anywhere.
Well, almost nothing...there's this.    rolleyes.gif

So, does anyone know if Apple has looked into this at all?

You would think they have, considering apple comes unglued when a site jumps-the-gun when any -inside- knowledge for new hardware [actually software as well] is advertised publicly. Lawyers coming out of the woodwork where there is no wood.

Remember the E-machines at the beginning.
