I just ordered a 256 meg DIMM for my old 233 Powerbook. I bought the low profile so that it will fit into either slot. In recent weeks I've seen a place posted with step by step instructions that include photos on how to take one of these machines apart. Does anyone remember if it was here? If not where could I find such info?
Also thinking about upgrading the drive to something bigger than the 2 gig so that I may run Jag. Suggestions are also welcome for a low cost drive. New or used doesn't really matter, as long as I can format and partition the thing with Jag on one partition and 9.2 on another smaller one.
I know someone here will come through, they always do. Thanks in advance!

Hi, Todd!

I recently did the same thing to my WallStreet. Piece of cake! I bought my 256 Mb memory module from OWC. I put mine in the upper slot so I would not have to remove the motherboard.

At the same time, I replaced the original 2 gig HD with an IBM TravelStar 20 gig, also from OWC. No problem!

I already had a USB PC card installed, so I bought a USB enclosure (OWC again) so I can use my 2 gig drive externally. Works great.

Jim is right about working in the Wallstreet. It is fairly straightforward. I did pretty much the same thing he did except I also upgraded the processor. I have my old 4G HD in a FW/USB exterior case. Makes a nice small pocket HD.

The only quirky thing I encountered (and I also saw someone else post this on another site) was getting the keyboard back in place. It needs a bit of finesse to get it to go in properly. Just be gentle but persistent.

Kris - That keyboard advice sounds like trying to get a date sometimes! Be gentle but persistent. Anyway, the memory is on order from Data Memory Systems and I just picked up an 8 gig HD from ebay. I also happened upon a little site that specializes in Powerbooks.
