Disable login dialogs at startup
« on: October 22, 2003, 11:28:39 AM »
I need to disable a connection to a server that is no longer running, or just disable its login dialogs at startup. If the server was active, I could go into Chooser>AppleShare, select the server, then log on, and deselect the check box that means it will be opened at system startup. The only problem is that I cannot log on to this server to deselect the check box, since it's inactive. I get prompted by 5 login dialogs for this server each time I start up. Is there another way to remove this from startup and keep my computer from trying to establish a connection each time? I'm running OS9.2. Any suggestions are appreciated!

First, a most hearty  welcome.gif to TS!

Now to the issue-

Go to the:
1. Systems Folder/Servers folder
2. In that, there should be the names of the defunct servers.
3. Drag those files (defunct servers) to the trash and empty the trash

And then,
Open your Control Panels/Apple Menu Options and ensure the number in “Servers” is set to 0.

Restart.

Please let us know of your success (or not). We really do aim to please blush-anim-cl.gif

Glad to hear that it all worked out OK.

Stop back soon, to lurk or to post, that's why we are here.
