If you might want to try out Linux on your Mac -

<< It appears that this latest rev of Mac OSX modifies [firmware?] onboard your computer in such a way as to cause Yellow Dog to fail to boot. At this point in time, we do not have an answer. We do know that Apple also has problems with this release as well and is recommending a downgrade to 10.2.6, but this does not fix the Yellow Dog boot issue. Stay tuned ... >>

Apple did this sort of thing once before in an "update" that intentionally prevented Mac G3 owners from upgrading their G3's to G4's.

Made some G3 owners pretty angry.

Of course, accelerator companies found ways around that little piece of Apple sabotage.

Looks like the easiest way around this current piece of typical Appleness is to just not upgrade past MacOS 10.2.6 if you may have any interest in exploring Linux on your Mac, now or in the future.
