This particular problem also occurs with Toast 6.0. The file "DLSPAPPluginConfig.clpi" is located in the Library Folder at root level. In attempt ing to back up the Library Folder to a CD, Toast gave the following error message: "The file "DLSPAPPluginConfig.clpi" could not be accessed (Data FOrk, -500
0). After clicking OK, the following error message appears: "Couldn't com
plete the last command because you don't have the required permissions. (-5
000).
On quitting Toast after ejecting the CD, the CD was no longer usable,
as it aws not recognized after inserting it.
If I used Toast in Simulation Mode and try to copy Library Folder after deleting the file "DSLDAPPluginConfig.clpi",the simulation crashes with the same two error messages, this one relating to file "DSLDAPv3PlugiinConfig.plist". If I delete this file also , the Simulation is carried out without problem. The permissions on these two files, like most System files in the Library Folder are set to Owner=System, Group=Admin.
Many other files within the Library Folder have identical Owner and Group Permissions as the two problem files, but they were copied without any difficulty.
A work-around to avoid deleting the files is to mount a blank dmg volume with DiskCopy large enough to hold the Library Folder and copy the Library Folder to the dmg (I used Tri-Backup 3). The copy-process somehow changes the permissions of the two problem "DSLD…" files from Owner=System, Group=Admin to Owner=me, Group=Staff(me)
My purpose in backing up the Library Folder was prepartion for upgrading to Panther. My normal back-up medium is a LaCie D2 Firewire400 Drive and I wanted an additional independent backup in case Panther eats the Firewire Drive in spite of my following all the precautions (I now mount the drive only for the brief time needed for doing a backup and then leave it unmounted and disconnected).
