Ink 4 Art printer ink - Not impressed!
« on: January 30, 2003, 09:12:00 PM »
Ordered a six pack of ink cartridges from www.ink4art.com for my Epson 777i.  Cost me $35.  Recently ran out of black so I replaced the Epson brand ink cartridge that was in my printer with the Ink4Art cartridge.  The color cartridge remaining is the Epson brand.  Anyway, I couldn't wait to try out this bargain ink so I loaded my printer with a sheet of photo paper and printed a digital photo.  NOT pretty!  After cleaning the nozzles a couple of times saw some improvement but looks splotchy.  Doesn't leave sharp edges.  I also printed a sheet of text in black.  That looked fine but I print mostly photos with my printer.

Any advice?  I've got 5 other cartridges I may have to toss.

I guess that ubiquitous caveat, YMMV, must be taken seriously.

I have been completely satisfied with ink4art's cartridges for my Epson 740, but I print mostly black text, with occasional color for highlighting and emphasis, and hardly ever print photos (and if I do it's just on regular paper, so I don't expect them to look anywhere near as good as photoprocessed pictures).

I'm with kbear. I have used about 10 cartridges from ink4art in my old Epson Photo 700, and 10 more in my My Epson Photo 750. I have printed extensive text and many photos with these cartridges, and have not had a single problem. Everything is sharp, and no clogging. I've been very happy.

Ryan,

I've had good luck with Ink4art for years.  Use a goodly amount of ink.  Buy the cartridges twelve at a time - just got another batch last week. Black only. Epson 740s.

I always order by telephone.  Someone usually picks up after a very brief wait.  They seem to be reasonable people.

In your situation, however, I would give 'em a call and see about returning the remaining cartridges and getting my money back.

Can't hurt to try.

Good luck,

Epaminondas

I had the same experience and they very willingly gave me my money back.  That said, I don't have a problem with the black ink and do print photos on good Epson photo paper and Office Depot Glossy Photo paper using it.  The color, however, gave incorrect output--that's why the return.

One thing to note is that you need to store those cartridges with the nozzles down and it takes a few cleanings to get them started correctly.  The instructions tell you all that.  Good luck with your return.  [PS: the black ink has a 'funny' odor to it until it dries thoroughly.]

Ink4Art cartridges work just fine for me (Epson 740) also. I don't do much color printing. I guess the choice depends on what you need to print.
Ya gotta applaud those bunnies for sacrificing their hearing just so some guy in Cupertino can have better TV reception.

What sealed it for me was that my wife had to print one of this PDF airline tickets, and it came out with only faint lines. This was the day before she was leaving so was quite panicked. I figured the ink4art was clogged because that had been a problem. After running the cleaning process like 12 times it showed it was out of ink.
This never happened with Epson ink.
I was impressed with it when it worked but I find printing hassles to be the worst. I was printing some stuff and i thought it was going well but upon further review they were all purple! And this was about 10 sheets of photo paper.
It's cheaper, it looks ok. It does not work as smoothly as the real thing.

Text looks fine using the Ink4Art.  If that is all I printed I would be happy.  I have printed many photos with my Epson 777i with the Epson ink and they turn out nice and sharp.  Not so with the Ink4Art.  Wish it worked as well for me as it seems to for some of you.  I will send them an e-mail and if that doesn't work will call.  Mabey they can give me suggestions before returning.

I am aware of the storage procedure.  Haven't had a chance to store them.  Just got the cartridges Monday.

Lot's of variables when it comes to shipping inks.  I've had bad experiences ordering and receiving inks by UPS or FedX delivery in the winter.  I suspect the fridgid temps play hell with the chemistry.  I do all my ordering in the summer now. Check out www.inkbarn.com

i have had success with ink4art, but there was this one time (and there is always going to be a one time sooner or later) that I had a problem with the ink that I ordered.  I emailed them and they sent me a new batch of ink that was good, along with a return mail lable to send back the other cartridges.

I would contact the company and see if they will do the same for you.

good luck!

Received a reply from Ink4Art.  They suggested to try another one of their  black ink cartridges in case I had got a hold of a faulty cartridge.  The second cartridge printed worse than the first.  Can't wait for their reply tomorrow.

My Epson 740 exhibited the same problem you describe after I replaced an empty black cartridge with a newly purchased Epson branded cartridge.

You might want to try a nozzle cleaning cartridge.

Tried that Pup.  Not go.

Ink4Art replied.  I asked if I should return the cartridges for refund or exchange them.  I told them I wanted the cartridges for printing photos.  Well, there reply was to return them for a full refund.
