X Mail - Deleting Old Servers

I've got several old mail servers in my OS X Mail prefs pulldown menu that I'd like to remove. Stuff with mac.com, the ex wife's username, etc. that really is only clutter now that I only use one server and username. Any way to dump these?

Mail-->Preferences-->Accounts-->highlite the account and hit the Remove Button.

..or is this not what you're after?

The accounts are gone kps. The spot where I'm looking is Prefs/Accounts/Edit/Account Information. From there you find a pulldown menu with the Outgoing Mail Servers on it. There is an Options button below that, but seemingly no way to remove old, unused mail servers.

Okay, I see what you mean. That information is stored in Mail's preferences. You can trash that file, but you'll lose all your preferences and will have to start over. However, you will not lose your stored mail or mailboxes as you'll be able to import them later.

If you still want to proceed, the file is here:

/Users/your_user_name/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist

Trash this file, then launch Mail.app and set it up.

Doesn't sound like too much of a problem kps. Trash the prefs and just input the POP and SMTP server info, username and password by the sound of things and I should be set.
I'm in the middle of changing the place where my domain name is registered because their mail forwarding has been down for about 4 days and they don't seem to be in a rush to fix it or reply to any inquiries. Once I get that settled I'll do battle with these Mail prefs.
Just implemented your suggestion. All old servers and usernames are gone. Thanks!
